We’ve been partners since 2017.
I was cut from a whiskey soaked cloth in Harrisburg, PA. After failing out of West Virginia University and selling wedding gowns for a company that went bankrupt, I decided to give art school a go. Yada yada yada, here we are.
In the past almost 20 years I’ve worked on big brands and small brands. I’ve worked at small shops and large holding companies. I’ve lead multi-million dollar campaigns and made clients my BFFs. All this to say - I’ve been able to flex in every direction this crazy job has thrown at me.
I started my career at Harrisburg and Philadelphia based Neiman Group. I was a 9 month intern turned Art Director. I worked on absolutely anything they would let me. A little over 5 years later I took a job at Grey New York where I worked on a lot of great brands. But, most of my time was spend working on the award winning “Breathe Happy” campaign for Febreze. I cannot even tell you how many unsuspecting people I’ve sent blindfolded into really sketchy places. We could never get away with that now.
In 2015 I jumped to Anomaly NY and stayed for 7.5 years. Yes, you read that correctly. 7.5 years. I found a home there and gained immeasurable experiences and opportunities. For the first few years I worked across multiple brands. Duracell, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sonos, Google and just about any brown liquor you can think of. In 2019, I was promoted to Creative Director and managed one of the largest accounts in the network, Ally Bank. Each year my partner, Vahbiz Engineer and I grew that business (even in 2020), managed a group of 15+ creatives and designers and an multi-agency IAT. In 2022 we also added the Ally social business to our roster. But eventually, you just gotta shake shit up, ya know?
Since Fall 2022, I’ve been two new places with my partner. The first being Arts & Letters. A smart shop based in Richond with dynomite creative talent. While there we ran TIto’s, Amazon Pharmacy, Zola and touched a little Google (I mean, who doesn’t touch a little Google from time to time ) Short stints aren’t my thing, but this one was.
I’ve called Le Truc home since July 2023. I’ve never worked anywhere like it. It feels new and exciting and sometimes totally the same all at once. It’s proven to be an adventure and I’ve been able to make exciting work, peek inside many different creative shops and work along side some of the industry top leaders.
I never dreamed of living in NYC but I’ve been here since 2011 and think it’s magical. It’s my second favorite place to be. First iis sitting around a campfire deep it the woods. When I’m not saving the world with marketing, I’m cooking, eating, drinking, wearing hats, seeing a show or traveling. Often at the same time. I strongly believe that dinner is therapy and sometimes, it’s all we have.
I live in Brooklyn with my hubs, Tim and my dog, Frog.
Important stuff you should know about me:
My jaw can physically hold only 31 teeth (most people have 32).
I picked up a pair of chopsticks before I ever held a spoon.
I am a distant relative of Freddie Mercury.
My last name is Engineer and my mother is a doctor.
So that makes my mother- Dr. Engineer.
My father named a tug boat after me. Vahbiz's length is 31 meters, has a fuel capacity of 80 cubic meters and sails the Pacific Ocean.
Now for the work stuff. I am a SVP, Creative Director at Le Truc. I started at the Publicis Group in July 2023 and have since led projects for Pepperidge Farm, Walgreens, Kimberly Clark and Quest Protein Snacks.
I came to Le Truc from Arts & Letters where I creatively managed key clients such as Tito’s, Zola, Google and Amazon Pharmacy. I led the team responsible for the DIY January Tito’s film with Martha Stewart which gained national acclaim in 2023.
Prior to that I was at Anomaly for over 7 years, where I worked on a number of global brands such as Budweiser and Diageo, including Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan and Crown Royal. In 2017-2018, I was part of the team that developed the award-winning Jane Walker campaign for Diageo, a limited edition of Johnnie Walker Black label, celebrating the many achievements of women. I also helped build and run the Ally Bank brand. During this time, I was instrumental in bringing an AR game of Monopoly to life that was played in seven cities across the US. I also spearheaded, “We’re all better off with an Ally” (ally words campaign) in 2021. In 2022 I was part of a small, handpicked team that pitched and won the Ally social business for Anomaly.
Prior to Anomaly, I created and crafted various high profile projects for global and U.S. clients at J Walter Thompson, including Macy’s, Smirnoff, Schick and Nestle as well as non-profit organizations, Services for the UnderServed and ECPAT. I was responsible for the award-winning Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project in 2011.
I worked on innovative campaigns for Absolut Vodka, Nivea, Embassy Suites and The Sprint Corporation, among other leading global brands at TBWA/Chiat/Day from 2006-2010.
I have been recognized by major advertising festivals of creativity including Cannes Lion, One Show, Art Directors Club and The New York Festival.
